Cell phones are a great way to keep in touch but they can ring at the most inconvenient times and you just know that you have to answer them. But is it always a good idea to answer your phone while you are driving and is its safe to do so?
One answer is to use a kit that has a speaker attached to it so that you do not have to hold the phone when you are using it. This a great way to make sure that you can keep both hands on the wheel but there are other reasons for not using your phone in the car.

Twenty years ago practically none of us had a mobile phone, today heaven help us if we dare to forget our phone before leaving for work in the mornings. I mean, we just cannot live a second without that phone on our person. It would be pointless to write an article about how mobile phones have taken over our communication. It is just too obvious and we all know that, I’m sure.
Dangers in Driving with Hands Free Cell Phones
The cell phone has become a communication tool that one cannot seem to do without these days. When you leave the house and you forgot to bring your hands free cell phone you get that feeling of inadequacy somehow, that can make you quite uncomfortable, and most likely make you decide to turn around and go back to get it.
The gadget comes in very handy when you have a need to call somebody from places where there are no other phones available, as in the middle of a highway. The invention of the hands free cell phone has made the making of a phone call very much easier while one is driving at the same time. For some people it has become a habit to turn to that cell phone and make calls when they forget about something in the office, even how trivial it is.
As of July 1st, Cell Phone Use Must Be Hands-Free in California
Recent chnges to California state law could possibly change the way in which California motorists use their cell phones. As of July 1st, it is against the law in California for most motorists to use cell phones without a hands-free device while driving. Passed in 2006, Vehicle Codes 23123 and 23124 are both laws aimed at preventing car accidents that result from the distraction of cell phones.
Code 23123 is directed towards cell phone use by persons over the age of 18. This law states that only drivers over the age of 18 may use a cell phone while driving, and any adult caught operating a phone without a hands-free device will be subject to a $20 fine for a first offense and $50 for additional offenses. Drivers need not fear, however, for lawmakers put in several important exceptions. Drivers are allowed to use their phones without a hands-free device if they are calling a health care provider, the police, the fire department, or another emergency service, and most government employees conducting business related to their job are also exempt from required hands-free calls.
